00:00:31: Today's guest has built an extraordinary international career in dentistry working across Germany Switzerland China and now Dubai home with extensive expertise in oral surgery implantology, ceramic implants and biolarchic dentistry.
00:00:52: He combines advanced clinical skills with a global perspective on patient care.
00:00:58: having treated patients around the world and educated dentists is international.
00:01:05: he brings unique insights into the future of modern dentistry, innovations and implantology.
00:01:14: Very welcome Dr Suleyman!
00:01:16: I'm so happy you are here to know each other now since i would say about a year from an network that we have together in Dubai.
00:01:28: We met
00:01:28: there for the first time.
00:01:29: thankyou
00:01:30: very much for your invitation.
00:01:32: Uh, intro.
00:01:34: Yes coming from my heart now before we dive into dentistry tell us who is Suli in Dubai on a personal before any kind of um yeah appropriation and expertise in dentistry?
00:01:53: Yeah.
00:01:54: So the favorite question.
00:01:55: so I would then like to start with one of my favorite quotes.
00:01:59: yes From all time It's from Mark Twain And he said, travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness.
00:02:14: So what does it mean?
00:02:16: If... What doesn't mean?
00:02:18: yeah so my explanation for that is go out in the world explore you know get to know other people and um You will have a positive feedback I had throughout my career, I have the opportunity to live like you said and work in different countries.
00:02:40: In China Germany Switzerland And now in Dubai.
00:02:44: since around four years.
00:03:02: All those experiences that I had, they shaped me.
00:03:05: Not only as a doctor but also as person.
00:03:09: But you then need to be like a good doctor right?
00:03:12: To have the skills of a good Doctor.
00:03:16: yeah and my background.
00:03:18: apart from dentistry I grew up in Ebersberg it's small city close to Munich finished there my Abitur In Munich Then high school, thirteenth grade And went into the Scherrit University Hospital Berlin and studied dentistry, then my dental life started.
00:03:36: And yeah apart from that family I love to spend time with my family and do some sports.
00:03:44: this is the balance very good.
00:03:46: since a year i have both license.
00:03:48: And what license?
00:03:50: A boat license.
00:03:51: Wow!
00:03:52: So whenever we find the time with my family, We go out and enjoy the time.
00:03:56: That's
00:03:57: such
00:03:57: a great distraction.
00:03:59: I think this is something so explorative as well in Dubai to have both licenses right you can do lot of things.
00:04:07: The sea is great.
00:04:09: It's good to get some fresh air.
00:04:10: Interesting!
00:04:12: You mentioned just now.
00:04:13: you have been to the Charité, right?
00:04:15: Yes
00:04:16: And as we do by dogs fast track I find out along our way that and a very humbled, also oral surgeon in our Duadox fast-ranked program who you know basically.
00:04:34: And I was very surprised and thought like okay this is Dubai!
00:04:39: This the world.
00:04:40: it's somehow big but then again its' also a village.
00:04:43: yeah
00:04:44: he will hopefully come with his wife an amazing both amazing doctors.
00:04:49: maybe we're gonna have them here.
00:04:53: Let's put the cliffhanger there, right?
00:04:59: Sully when we talk about your initial steps as a dentist what approach to this specific oral surgery implantology path in your expertise why not?
00:05:13: and let's say internal medicine.
00:05:16: yeah do become a dentist egg.
00:05:19: To be honest with you There are many reasons that I was.
00:05:21: just one main reason manufacturers and inspirations.
00:05:27: Like some of the reasons was, I had a small child to trauma with a dentist but i don't want tell that... I think
00:05:38: everybody has some kind
00:05:40: of trauma?
00:05:42: It's more an inspirational thing.
00:05:45: it is a little bit cheesy.
00:05:47: there are books from Noah Gordon The Physician And I think many doctors and dentists, they know that.
00:05:56: It's a little bit cheesy but it really is an inspiration...I was a teenager when i read the book about young physician or guy who becomes a physician his desire to know everything about human body.
00:06:10: so he wants become better doctor.
00:06:12: this whole more less point of story.
00:06:15: and he's going, so in the eleventh century.
00:06:18: And he is like to Persia into different places where they had back then best medical schools.
00:06:24: but what I loved most was not a goal at end that hes'e good doctor or whatever, a good surgeon.
00:06:30: it was more of journey because he traveled through different countries ,different religions.
00:06:38: He saw many human beings So many people in world wherever he was.
00:06:43: united them you know, and he could survive without the languages.
00:06:48: He started to learn the languages wherever he was but just enough to communicate.
00:06:52: yes And for that?
00:06:53: You don't need to know the language Just a communication.
00:06:56: This is what I love them most on.
00:06:58: this was a little bit inspirational.
00:07:02: It's
00:07:02: cheesy, but it is true.
00:07:04: I think books are so much underestimated and i think that would be very favorite question of myself to always ask also in the podcast of skillionaires who what is your favourite book?
00:07:17: And I never asked the doctors about their favorite book.
00:07:21: So thank you for sharing this with us!
00:07:25: I wanted to learn as well.
00:07:29: But yeah, the oral surgery... ...I was always very interested in the oral health and the whole correlation with general health.
00:07:37: So for me the mouse is fascinated about it.
00:07:39: The mouse is a gateway into human body.
00:07:43: We start eating nutrition.
00:07:44: Eating is one of most important things we do all our daily life.
00:07:49: We need healthy good nutrition, speak with the mouse And also the digestion starts there.
00:07:58: The other way around when we have some systemic diseases or anything, We can see it in our mouth too.
00:08:04: So its two ways and for example pregnancy.
00:08:10: If its not a disease Its just an activity.
00:08:12: Lets say something is changing.
00:08:16: And what happens?
00:08:17: because of all the hormonal changes on your body the higher level of astrogea and progesterone, so on.
00:08:27: The gums are bleeding now we can see that in.
00:08:30: there are thousands off examples.
00:08:33: yeah And this is very interesting for me since when I started dentistry before I start dentistry i wanted to become neurosurgeon because love hands-on work but incombination with the biology anatomy.
00:08:49: just Before We Started I told you about surgery just to make a very, let's say uncomfortable situation as good and smooth for the patients is possible.
00:09:01: Zuli when it comes first impression I had so much unpreparation of this interview that i was thinking through today.
00:09:13: actually tremendous, good oral health I must say.
00:09:26: And just like...I could not concentrate on what he's or she is saying to me.
00:09:31: so What do you think?
00:09:33: Oral Health?
00:09:35: yeah it having a situation and impact the first impression can you repair it?
00:09:45: but also then again dentists per se and totally other point of view.
00:09:54: And secondly, I think just correct me if i'm wrong you can see really how somebody is really taking care of yourself when on the situation with the teeth right?
00:10:07: You can just say that's a mirror off your body.
00:10:10: yeah...you can see a lot!
00:10:13: It also now especially in Dubai but all over the world this whole body dentistry, the holistic dentistry what we call if it's biological dentistry people are more they want to live longer.
00:10:27: Yeah you know I think your last podcast i saw was Dr Esan.
00:10:30: he spoke about longevity.
00:10:33: It is a big topic
00:10:34: and even have our shake come down here right?
00:10:37: Who now...
00:10:38: And This Is Amazing For Clinicians!
00:10:40: If You Asked This Is amazing for clinicians then too work here because its open minded We Have A Lot Of Opportunities and also the compliance of the patients.
00:10:50: The patient they want that, so we have a chance to see their whole body you know?
00:10:55: And what it means I can explain later.
00:10:58: this is where i work now in the Rose BioHearts Clinic We try not too... Of course we will fix our teeth but to see the patient in a
00:11:06: holistic way.
00:11:07: yeah I like more to say meanwhile whole body dentistry or because it's biologic, but are the conservative dentist not biologic?
00:11:17: Yes.
00:11:17: They're also.
00:11:18: But so we see really the whole body and still stick to their evidence-based medicine
00:11:25: in generally.
00:11:26: when I'm when you talk already about your work and The longevity Approach that Dubai in generally has i would like to know Because I see that Dubai has a totally other approach when it comes to medicine, per se.
00:11:48: They have very preventive approaches.
00:11:52: and how is in dentistry?
00:11:59: When you compare Dubai with Germany, Switzerland or even China How would you compare dentistry to this dentistry that you're doing here?
00:12:11: Yeah, it's I think like everything is sometimes also what demanded here.
00:12:16: What the patients expect Dubai as you know i don't exactly... The percentage should be above ninety percent experts right?
00:12:24: Yes yes,
00:12:25: ninety
00:12:26: one.
00:12:27: So ninety-one per cent expert.
00:12:29: so we have a lot of young people.
00:12:31: yeah our patients are mainly below sixty.
00:12:36: Of course, we have also a few above.
00:12:38: But you cannot compare that with Germany.
00:12:40: or when I went to China and... ...I was treating more the patients who didn't have teeth.
00:12:46: They just wanted.
00:12:47: there were re in China And Chinese both yeah
00:12:51: Yeah
00:12:51: but in China it was because i went as a specialist implantologist So had to reconstruct the biting function.
00:12:56: then You know on the traditional chinese medicine It's so important to have a good nutrition.
00:13:02: they had the stenchers There will lose deconbite anymore.
00:13:05: They cannot chew, they have gut issues.
00:13:07: So you need to reconstruct that.
00:13:09: patients above sixty-seventy here it's different.
00:13:14: Here again we are looking more for aesthetics than looking more and For the let's say more the longevity Mm-hmm or us its for me.
00:13:27: if I treat a patient now We will.
00:13:29: how?
00:13:29: Do It is The treatment itself Is one part but then there is another part, the pretreatment.
00:13:36: So you would come to me for example we remove and extract a wisdom tooth or we extract an infected tooth.
00:13:42: We always take our blood test But of course just do normal blood tests And see results that are correlated with oral health which I think are most important.
00:13:55: For example vitamin D has good correlation to bone regeneration and few different ones.
00:14:02: Then we can see, because if you have the same surgery on two patients patient A and patient B. You have different outcomes.
00:14:10: If a patient is for example they can be at the same age.
00:14:12: everything's the same.
00:14:13: One has low immune system like of sleep And so one.
00:14:17: The other one Is little bit fitter in good status Different outcome.
00:14:22: We want or I want to try To help them to Be stronger In better status.
00:14:29: So we check different results help them, give them for example pre-infusion.
00:14:34: Then during the surgery and then in treatment.
00:14:37: there are also a few important things to take care of like planning or diagnostics.
00:14:43: we do always three D X-ray For example.
00:14:48: you have good planning And then the treatment is easy, implant whatever.
00:14:53: it's easier than later postoperative care.
00:14:57: This is also, it's like a journey.
00:14:59: When you ask me what the difference?
00:15:01: I would say not only do come in and check if you have this medication because every dentist has to do that with anything dangerous but no okay then let's fix their tooth go home.
00:15:12: But If we prepare before Do surgery treatment And take care after that with lymphatic drainage With post infusion So on You have better healing.
00:15:24: so optimize as good as possible.
00:15:27: So, it's totally an approach to... I'm speechless because It is such a supportive approach that i have already like kind of spring in my head about My new project for the medical tourism and if people would want To come to Dubai as it Is a longevity hub to be maybe The next blue zone.
00:15:54: But what about this approach when you bring it in as a USP to treat patients really on the fast recovery mode?
00:16:07: We are
00:16:07: doing that.
00:16:07: I have lots of patients flying from Saudi, Kuwait and Bahrain during the war four guys by car.
00:16:19: They came all the way from Kuwait because they wanted a full body, whole-body approach.
00:16:24: How long did you drive to here?
00:16:26: I don't
00:16:27: know how many hours it was... I couldn't believe that there were between thirty six and forty three super lovely guy's And one of them is a health coach.
00:16:36: He tracked other ones with him.
00:16:38: We did the whole check.
00:16:39: Yeah he asked me if i had any days left to stay There.
00:16:42: we did treatments Checked which treatment needs then you know, go away because you have to clean and so on.
00:16:50: And what they can do here?
00:16:53: This was very positive and successful for them!
00:16:58: Very good!
00:16:59: So that is already the right track in your very futuristic approach of actually being safe with a future having such an USP.
00:17:10: I'm really proud to have you here to pick up your frame
00:17:15: differences, for example.
00:17:16: also the main difference is what we shift now as an implantologist like just speaking as a surgeon.
00:17:24: You know that implants are dental implant screws?
00:17:27: Yes it's just replacement of tooth.
00:17:32: It's either.
00:17:33: they're different materials to either titanium or ceramics.
00:17:38: and meanwhile We started back then I do that.
00:17:41: my first implants maybe over fifteen years ago.
00:17:45: I start, of course with titanium.
00:17:46: But since two thousand eighteen let's say since eight years we are shifting that i started with my ceramics.
00:17:53: so meanwhile you just do ceramic implants and we're shifting because patients ask for metal free.
00:18:01: You know also the mercury fillings.
00:18:02: We try to remove them in a safe way.
00:18:04: For that there are protocols.
00:18:06: this is
00:18:06: all these biological protocols.
00:18:09: Because your aware?
00:18:10: Okay then okay what should happen, I will not die.
00:18:13: You know grandparents they also did it.
00:18:15: let's remove the amalgam reds to move this head smoothness.
00:18:17: but if this accumulates yes you have chronic disease.
00:18:20: yes we have chronic infections in your body and we try just to see from the hat or the oral perspective to remove these chronic inflammations.
00:18:31: It
00:18:36: can have such a big impact on your full body and actually longevity as well, right?
00:18:43: So when I'm thinking about oral surgery yeah.
00:18:51: What is that?
00:18:52: fear
00:18:53: you know
00:18:54: pain.
00:18:57: What is the biggest misconception people have about oral surgery?
00:19:01: what do you think it's The biggest misconception You always have to face with clients, patients in your clinic.
00:19:09: You said already pain and anxiety still yeah And how would we deal that?
00:19:17: regarding let say pain and anxiety, because nobody in it's in general dentistry.
00:19:23: Nobody wants to go to a dentist is very intimate area.
00:19:27: if especially when you do the surgeries implants bone grafts this all stuff like I don't know what's going on have to go there let's focus on the pain.
00:19:37: meanwhile It's not like that.
00:19:39: say twenty thirty years ago we had better diagnostics with diagnostic is better.
00:19:47: treatment is easier.
00:19:48: What does it mean?
00:19:49: For example, you would or your aunt someone needs an extraction.
00:19:52: Would come to me I will take always a three D scan as ready as CB city.
00:19:58: Yeah
00:19:58: this is so powerful right.
00:20:00: yeah a CBC T is not a CT slow dosage.
00:20:04: that means we have very good diagnosis.
00:20:07: We see exactly what's going on where the nerve was.
00:20:09: the tools like today whereas the cyst and um...we can plan very properly.
00:20:15: The better they plan.
00:20:18: Do you remember these impressions?
00:20:19: Yes, they are horrible.
00:20:22: We don't do that at all anymore.
00:20:23: it's all intraoral scans like a small scanner.
00:20:26: You put in what
00:20:28: happened to the deliverer of this kind of material.
00:20:32: They must get bankrupt.
00:20:35: maybe there now the scanner?
00:20:37: no and The thing is better than planning.
00:20:41: This is the most important thing, the diagnostics.
00:20:43: The easier surgery.
00:20:44: so we have everything that can be simulated on a computer.
00:20:47: of course We need to experience and do it minimally Invisive And then try as minimally invasive As possible.
00:20:56: this regarding pain.
00:20:57: So if back for example we would not have the diagnostic that now Open bigger cut the gum open Exploring what's going Now everything is really more minimal invasive.
00:21:12: Another thing, the piezo surgery.
00:21:14: The piezo-surgery's like an ultrasonic tool that we can replace especially in the surgery with a drill and sometimes you still need it but mostly the drills are something you don't want to do.
00:21:27: The other one is very minimally invasive.
00:21:29: You cannot destroy soft tissue so your safer was the nerve.
00:21:33: Remove wisdom tooth close to the nerves of the piezosurgery.
00:21:39: you can do the whole treatment more atraumatic.
00:21:44: Less trauma during the treatment, less pain... ...less fear!
00:21:49: And regarding
00:21:50: sorry that anxiety it's funny and easy.
00:21:54: we have laughing gas
00:21:56: but what would help me before I will take laughing gas with so much value?
00:22:02: the transparency of the treatments?
00:22:05: Do you bring in dead factor to evaluate what is needed for the patient.
00:22:12: Because if, um yeah maybe you can talk a little bit about this.
00:22:18: patients like that because I am appreciating so much That The Dentist tells me we're doing this in order To do This.
00:22:27: We are Doing This For Achieving That Transparency Because i'm also Interested.
00:22:34: But You Know It Requires bit of a trust to lean in and let go with no tension while you sit on the chair, right?
00:22:44: And if your be equipped some transparency by doctor it helps you release the tension.
00:22:54: That maybe can also avoid laughing gas or anything like that.
00:22:58: but I also understand that maybe not every patient is the same.
00:23:01: How do you?
00:23:02: Also, we use it but also joking because some they really like if... Because of reliefs with like he said If we communicate properly transparent and honest this is the most important.
00:23:14: Educate to patients sometimes have patience.
00:23:16: They ask hey i saw two dentists.
00:23:19: Do I have to remove my wisdom teeth or no I don't know what to do.
00:23:22: And then The Most Important Thing Is Again Take a Three D X-ray.
00:23:26: We Check We Don't Say Much.
00:23:28: patient comes back and then you can see it yourself.
00:23:31: You try to explain it short, very simple but the patient understands why they need to be removed or why not?
00:23:41: As soon as we have your smart intelligent people in Dubai... ...as soon as the patient understood.
00:23:47: that is just a matter of decision.
00:23:51: when do I have time for it?
00:23:53: I think also it's a totally other level where you receive your patients nowadays because they educate themselves already before we come to you, right?
00:24:03: Where we go into the subject of AI.
00:24:06: It is on one side very benefit for... the patient to, um, educate themselves.
00:24:12: But it's also maybe a paradigm where you have to get them out may be from any kind of misconception that has been caused by use at a judge activity or any other kind of open AI.
00:24:25: and what do you think?
00:24:27: And generally on the patients side cooperation with AI and then also AI in your clinical work.
00:24:37: What role does to play in the future?
00:24:40: I think it will help a lot.
00:24:44: There are no meanwhile, they're starting with different programs for dentists or doctors.
00:24:48: For example clinical notes that there'll be a lot of improvement because we were sitting you know and administration work which is very important part but can have an easier and faster sometimes repeating chat GPT and had a funny story.
00:25:12: One of my patients, you know they check off course I would do the same before it goes somewhere.
00:25:17: one of the patients did surgery extractions of two T's plus bone grafts And with an open wound technique.
00:25:25: we always take blood before so we collect the blood Take their own plasma.
00:25:30: It is called PRF Reuse.
00:25:32: it Did all.
00:25:34: that was actually very nice surgery.
00:25:37: He took from every day of the healing a picture, put it on chat GPT and asked there were sutures.
00:25:45: And ask does it look normal?
00:25:46: But funny part is he's very intelligent guys and CEO for company came back.
00:25:53: Very lovely patient told us then yeah I was controlling you know if everything worked.
00:26:02: Then this all first time many patients are doing that but now.
00:26:07: And then he said, yeah actually this was day two.
00:26:10: He showed it to me days three and then its written the margins of the wound looks good The wound is healing properly.
00:26:18: there's you know yellow tissue is this the sutures are still they're and so on.
00:26:23: that was luckily okay.
00:26:27: So yeah, this was very
00:26:28: good.
00:26:30: But the awareness of it is something so beneficial also for their own health right?
00:26:35: And if you can be free yourself as a doctor from and maybe hurted ego or somebody who's trying to go along with information in process then I think that benefits only whole process.
00:26:54: So Lee, we have a lot of listeners who wants to also come to Dubai as doctors.
00:26:59: Tell us a little bit why you choose Dubai?
00:27:01: To be I mean here at dentists and implantologists or researchers in?
00:27:07: And what would you advise somebody who want's to come here?
00:27:12: yeah so In my field like i said before um Dubai has a lot opportunities for other doctors In general, I like to buy.
00:27:25: it's international.
00:27:26: I told you my story before so... ...I love that.
00:27:29: its international and its peaceful International You know?
00:27:32: It works!
00:27:33: Doesn't matter which religion Which is the first thing.
00:27:36: Second thing Maybe if coming now from Germany Switzerland To Dubai you think oh My English isn't very good And especially in Germany we are hard maybe sometimes with ourselves, you know.
00:27:56: Did I pronounce this correctly?
00:27:58: or who cares?
00:28:00: At the end it doesn't have to be a perfect English.
00:28:03: It's just important communicate.
00:28:05: This is what also learned in China by the way.
00:28:08: So much more important to communicate properly.
00:28:11: i love To work here and Dubai like as said before because You Have More Time.
00:28:16: so i have time for my patient.
00:28:18: nobody tells me fifteen minutes, thirty minutes forty five one hour.
00:28:23: I was taken an hour for a consultation and because it needs time that
00:28:28: would be punished in Germany right?
00:28:32: It's no depends on.
00:28:33: they have also good of course you've got clinics everywhere but
00:28:36: then we'd be punished by the system if its just
00:28:39: related to insurances than difficult to survive as clinic owner.
00:28:43: definitely Because when You can't you know do a consultation.
00:28:48: But this gives me to find really out about, let's say you would come for a consultation.
00:28:55: To find out and then to understand And also improve your oral health.
00:29:00: This is the most I enjoy doing this journey from beginning until end with patient Then maintain it So we have an improvement.
00:29:10: If of course at the end when we improve function in our health We've got nice aesthetics and patients are happy I'm happy and then we try to maintain it.
00:29:20: And for that you need time, this is what i love
00:29:23: here.".
00:29:25: What would your recommend doctors who are taking in consideration come here?
00:29:30: To look deeper into as out of the perspective... It would have been nice if they knew before.
00:29:42: Yeah!
00:29:44: In general when you
00:29:46: move
00:29:46: from one country to another you need time in the beginning.
00:29:52: And I would recommend to be patient,
00:29:56: open-minded.
00:29:57: yeah definitely but i think whoever wants to move from A to B is already willing to be open minded and always maybe interested to continue learning because the competition here is a lot different
00:30:13: than Germany right?
00:30:15: But at the same also want to continue learning.
00:30:19: You know, it pushes us clinicians become-to improve and become
00:30:23: better.".
00:30:23: And this is... Also I love the swipe!

00:30:40: These are maybe things.
